The 2025 Mackay Chamber Music Festival opens with a breathtaking exploration of transformation, light, and intensity.
The evening begins with Wojciech Kilar’s Orawa, an electrifying work that surges with the untamed spirit of the Carpathian Mountains.
Guitar virtuoso Slava Grigoryan takes center stage for Vivaldi’s Lute Concerto in D major, a gem of the Baroque repertoire, performed alongside a stellar ensemble of festival musicians. Brimming with warmth and charm, this beloved concerto showcases the delicate interplay of guitar and strings in true Vivaldi brilliance.
After the interval, we present Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night)—a deeply moving, late-Romantic masterpiece that journeys through passion, despair, and ultimate redemption. Performed by an ensemble of exceptional festival artists, this lush, emotionally charged work promises an unforgettable opening night where we introduce all of the 2025 MCMF Festival Artists.
