Saturday 18 July, 3:00pm
Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music
Boundary Road, Ooralea

Striving to emerge from the shadows of the late German romantic composers, the young Englishman Ralph Vaughan Williams composed his Piano Quintet in 1903. He withdrew this work before his widow allowed it to be performed again some 80 years later in 1999. Written for the same instrumentation, today you will also hear a beautiful movement of a Piano Quintet by our own double-bassist, Jaan Pallandi. Opening today’s concert is the Schumann’s beautiful Adagio and Allegro, followed by a surprise…

SCHUMANN - Adagio and Allegro (Stewart Kelly and Edward King)
PALLANDI - Piano Quintet, II. Andante Con Moto (Doretta Balkizas, Elizabeth Woolnough, Simon Cobcroft, Jaan Pallandi & Stewart Kelly)

VAUGHAN WILLIAMS - Piano Quintet (Doretta Balkizas, Elizabeth Woolnough, Simon Cobcroft, Jaan Pallandi & Stewart Kelly)
