Friday 17 July, 7:00pm
Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music
Boundary Road, Ooralea

In this opening concert of the 2020 Mackay Chamber Music Festival, we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of the great Ludwig van Beethoven. Works from the early, middle and late periods of Beethoven’s life, as well as works by two of his greatest influences – Haydn and Mozart will be featured.

Experience the grandeur of Beethoven’s “Eroica” symphony, the passion of his opus 1 C minor piano trio, and the incredibly touching “Cavatina”, which caused his tears to fall onto the page as it was being composed. The “Horseman” quartet by Beethoven’s early mentor, Haydn, is sure to excite. The bubbling brilliance of Mozart’s “Grand Sesetto” will put you in the mood to stay after the concert to mingle with the musicians over some complimentary refreshments and snacks, kindly sponsored by Hail Creek.
