Everyone has a story to tell, whether they be fairy tales told in childhood, stories of war, fables and mysteries, or tales from travels to far away and exotic places. The final concert of the 2019 MCMF promises to be a tale of epic proportions, with the music of Stravinsky, Ravel and Tchaikovsky keeping you on the edge of your seat. Stravinsky’s ‘The Soldier’s Tale’ tells the Russian folk tale of a soldier’s deal with the devil to possess unlimited wealth, while Tchaikovsky’s famous ‘Souvenir de Florence’ paints a picture of the composer’s visit to Italy. Come and let the music transport, and take you wherever you want to go!

STRAVINSKY - Suite from L’Histoire du soldat, for clarinet, violin and piano (Doretta Balkizas, Justin Beere & Stewart Kelly)
RAVEL - Ma mère l’Oye, for piano four hands (Angela Turner & Stewart Kelly)

TCHAIKOVSKY - String Sextet in D minor, Op.70 ‘Souvenir de Florence’ (Glenn Christensen, Caroline Hopson, Stefanie Farrands, Tom Higham, Simon Cobcroft & Alexandra Partridge)
