The Lyrebird Trio presents works by Grainger, Dvořák and Schumann. One of his most-loved and performed works, Dvořák’s “Dumky” Trio shifts between moments of ecstasy and melancholy. Schumann’s Piano Quintet was written during his “Chamber Music Year”, and explores the almost symphonic capabilities of the combination of piano and string quartet. In contrast to this, Grainger’s “My Robin is to the Greenwood Gone” was amusingly described by the composer himself as “music room rambling”.
Grainger - My Robin is to the Greenwood Gone (Lyrebird Trio)
Dvořák - “Dumky” Trio, Op. 90, B. 166 (Lyrebird Trio)
Schumann - Piano Quintet in E-flat major, Op. 44 (Lyrebird Trio, Caroline Hopson, Tom Higham)
