In their 10th year anniversary, the Lyrebird Trio returns to Mackay to present a concert full to the brim with love and heart.
Anne Cawrse’s new "Anniversary Trio" was commissioned by and premiered at the Coriole Festival in 2023 to celebrate a 25th wedding anniversary. Monteverdi’s madrigal “Dolcissimo Uscignolo” depicts the agitated call of a nightingale to its soul mate, and Paul Stanhope uses fragments and memories of this piece to weave into his single-movement work of the same name for Piano Trio.
A favourite of the Lyrebird Trio, Mendelssohn’s dramatic C minor piano trio was the last piece the composer saw published before his death. It’s a work full of breathless passion and beautiful lyricism, coupled with virtuosity and overflowing with emotion.
Be sure to bring along some tissues for this concert!
